Who We Are
St. Vincent de Paul Charity Programme (SVDPCP) is a Community-Based Organization (CBO) founded in 2005 and registered in 2006. We are based at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Malindi Diocese, Kenya, complementing the County Government of Kilifi in primary health care, HIV/AIDS prevention, care , Support and community development.
Our Purpose
SVDPCP complements the Kilifi County Government in developing a robust and sustainable primary healthcare system. We focus on reducing the prevalence of HIV/AIDS while building the internal capacities of vulnerable communities, enhancing their livelihoods, and ensuring holistic wellness.

What We Do
We are dedicated to the provision of prevention, care, and support to people infected and affected with HIV/AIDS through the following interventions:

Health Services
We focus on providing essential health services to vulnerable individuals, especially those living with HIV/AIDS. Our programs include:
🏠 Home and Community-Based Care: Supporting individuals living with HIV/AIDS through, counseling, and medical assistance.
🦠 HIV Prevention & Support: Facilitating HIV testing, counseling, and treatment adherence programs. We offer school health education in 8 JSS schools. We undertake community HIV/AIDS awareness.
🩺 Tuberculosis (TB) Screening & Care – Providing TB screening and referral services to ensure timely treatment.
🧠 Mental Health Wellness & Psychosocial Support: Offering counseling and life skills training to improve mental well-being for people living with HIV/AIDS.
🥗 Nutritional Support: Providing food and essential nutrients to improve health outcomes for vulnerable individuals.

Educational Support
We support orphans and vulnerable children in our St. Vincent De Paul ECDE and Vocation trainings in different fields:
We support vulnerable youths to join vocational training institutions by facilitating access to government and private TVET through.
🛠️ Payment of School Levies to acquire the skills and be retained in school.
🛠️ Provision of Start-Up Kits – Assisting TVET graduates with tools and resources to enhance their employability chances.

Economic Empowerment
We empower our participants towards financial stability and sustainability for household economic independence through:
- Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC): Promoting a culture of saving and financial inclusion among PLHIV.
- Microfinance Support: Providing access to small loans for PLHIV to start or expand businesses.
- Income-Generating Activities: Training PLHIV in sustainable business practices and agriculture to enhance self-reliance.
- Business Coaching & Mentorship: Offering guidance on market access, business management, and financial literacy tailored for PLHIV.

Child Safeguarding
We are committed to creating a safe environment for children through:
Community Engagement & Awareness: Collaborating with local authorities to enhance child safety and support systems.
Child Protection Programs: Educating the community about child rights and reporting mechanisms for abuse cases.
School-Based Safeguarding Measures: Implementing policies that promote child safety in schools and learning institutions.
Psychosocial Support: Providing counseling and rehabilitation services for abused and vulnerable children.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Safeguarding
We actively work to prevent and respond to gender-based violence by:
Awareness Campaigns: Educating communities on the impact of GBV and promoting gender equality.
Survivor Support Services: Providing counseling, medical referrals, and legal assistance to survivors of violence.
At St. Vincent de Paul Malindi, we are committed to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and supporting those living with HIV/AIDS—but we cannot do it alone.
Our Achievements To Date
Home and Community-Based Care
1 CCC desk at Malindi Level 4 Hospital.
1,511 clients enrolled in our HBC database.
12 active support groups for PLHIV.
52 trained community health promoters (CHP), with 40 currently active.
5,737 individuals screened for TB and 13,098 tested for HIV.
1,355 individuals supported with medical and nutritional care.
Economic Empowerment
1,818 SILC members across 16 groups collectively saving Kshs. 1,500,000 by September 2024.
Youth TVET graduates supported with start-up business kits.

Education
1,290 ECDE pupils supported.
61 students provided with secondary school fees and uniforms.
56 TVET enrollments, with most graduates now self-sustaining.
50 TVET graduates supported with start-up kits.
450 peer educators trained in life skills and behavior change since 2014.
54 facilitators trained in behavior change programs.
9 primary schools engaged in health awareness programs since 2014.

Future Prospects
🧪 Establish a Full Laboratory: Set up a fully equipped lab with professionals capable of conducting CD4 counts and other essential medical tests to improve healthcare services for our beneficiaries.
